Jurisdiction
The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor has a long tradition, dating back to 1854, when the State Attorney's Office began its work. It performs its function within the actual and local jurisdiction of the Basic Court in Kotor, in the municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Budva, on an area of 503 km2, where more than 70,000 inhabitants live permanently.
Given the fact that this prosecutor's office is responsible for three municipalities, which are the most attractive for tourists during the summer season, the work of the prosecutors is complicated in many ways, because the multiple increase in the number of people residing in these municipalities logically results in a greater number of committed crimes, which require immediate and urgent work of the prosecutors.
The function of prosecuting perpetrators of criminal and other punishable offenses is performed by the Head and seven state prosecutors.
