The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić is actually competent for the prosecution of the perpetrators of criminal offenses for which the main fine or prison sentence of up to ten years is prescribed by law, regardless of the characteristics, occupation and position of the perpetrator and regardless of whether the offense was committed in peacetime conditions, during a state of emergency, immediate danger of war or a state of war, unless the jurisdiction of another court, i.e. the prosecutor's office, is prescribed for some of these criminal offences.
The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić acts before the Basic Court in Nikšić, and is locally competent for the territories of the municipalities of Nikšić and Plužine.
