State Prosecutor at the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office Armin Selmanović participated in the panel discussion “Towards Knowing Your Rights”, organised by the Centre for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM), which focused on improving human rights protection and strengthening institutional capacities.
Selmanović highlighted the importance of consistent application of the law, enhancing victim protection, preventing secondary victimisation, and building citizens’ trust in institutions.
He stressed the importance of continuous training for representatives of the police, prosecution service and judiciary in order to ensure the application of international standards and provide effective protection to victims.
Attention was also drawn to activities being undertaken to improve the normative framework, including planned amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, which will further strengthen victims’ rights and communication with injured parties.
Particular attention was paid to the need for an effective institutional response to cases of violence, discrimination and hate speech, as well as to the importance of encouraging citizens to report such cases in order to ensure adequate protection and consistent application of the law.
The participants agreed that the common goal of all institutions is to build a system in which every individual is guaranteed equal protection of their rights, while strengthening professional capacities.
