Marković: Adaptation of Former Government Building Improves Working Conditions for the SDT and SPO

The adaptation and commissioning of the former Government building will undoubtedly significantly improve the working conditions of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) and the Special Police Department (SPO), while also creating the spatial and technical prerequisites for further strengthening human resources, enhancing security, and improving procedures in their work.

This was stated by Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković in his address at a conference organized on the occasion of the handover of the adapted former Government building.

As he pointed out, working in the new premises will facilitate and make the joint work of these institutions more efficient, as well as enhance international police and prosecutorial cooperation.

Marković emphasized that the contribution of numerous institutions and international partners to the implementation of this project demonstrates that the fight against crime is not the responsibility of an individual, an institution, the government, or a political party, but rather the responsibility and need of society as a whole — all institutions, the authorities and the opposition, and every citizen.

He stressed that the fight against crime is not a matter of the moment, but one of continuity and sustainability, adding that this represents a significant step in a series of activities that have already been undertaken and those yet to come.

“Therefore, the expectations and needs of Montenegrin society are that institutions should continue to be built and strengthened in this way, and the rule of law in Montenegro further improved,” the Supreme State Prosecutor concluded.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said that through this project, Montenegro is concretely strengthening the institutions leading the key fight against organized crime and corruption, emphasizing that the project permanently resolves the issue of adequate working conditions for the prosecution service.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić assessed that the opening of the adapted building has resolved another complex and long-standing problem, providing the SDT and SPO with working conditions that are in line with their achievements and importance.
