Marković Meets Delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands: The Rule of Law Is Built Through Concrete Results

Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković met with members of the Committee on European Affairs of the Parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to discuss the reform of the State Prosecutor’s Office, which is being implemented with the aim of improving the quality, efficiency and independence of the prosecution service.

He stressed that this reform process also entails meeting the interim and final benchmarks under Chapters 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) and 24 (Justice, Freedom and Security).

Speaking about improvements in the work of the State Prosecutor’s Office, Marković briefed his interlocutors on activities that have contributed to achieving measurable results in combating organised crime and corruption, as well as strengthening independence, institutional integrity and transparency.

“Changes in the prosecution service are producing visible results, confirming that the reform processes are delivering the expected effects and providing additional impetus to continue improving our work, strengthening institutional capacities and achieving even better results in the interest of the rule of law and citizens,” Marković said.

The interlocutors also discussed aligning the work of the prosecution service with European standards and ensuring consistent application of the law through concrete institutional changes and results in practice, with particular emphasis on harmonising prosecutorial practice.

The members of the delegation positively assessed the progress achieved and the observed changes in strengthening the rule of law, expressing support for the continuation of reform activities and further alignment with European standards.
