Effective and direct efforts to combat organised crime and other serious criminal offences, particularly drug trafficking, through enhanced information exchange, coordination of investigations and more effective prosecution of cross-border cases, are the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković and Attorney General of the Republic of Costa Rica Carlo Díaz Sánchez.

The Memorandum provides a basis for strengthening direct cooperation between the prosecution services, creating additional opportunities for the exchange of experiences and the improvement of mechanisms for international legal assistance in cases of mutual interest.

The particular significance of the Memorandum lies in the possibility of direct communication, exchange of information and coordination of activities in complex investigations, thereby contributing to more effective efforts to combat contemporary forms of crime.
